Patternmaking & Draping 101 – Recorded Course

This self-paced program is designed for fashion design enthusiasts who want to learn draping and patternmaking at their own pace. Adapted from the live Zoom class, this recorded course includes step-by-step demonstrations, instructional materials, and supply lists. E-mail eliascouture@gmail.com to inquire before signing up.

Patternmaking & Draping – Recorded Version (Self-Paced, Lower Fee)

  • Learn independently with pre-recorded lessons and support materials

  • Access to a detailed supply list and instructional guides

  • Unlimited email support

Patternmaking & Draping Deluxe – Recorded Version with Live Support 🚨Optional add-on 4 1-on-1 Hour Zoom Sessions, included in the deluxe course (discounted $200 from my typical rate!)

  • Includes one live Zoom session per week (four total hours) for Q&A and guidance

  • Personalized feedback on your draping and patternmaking progress

  • Required: A tripod or webcam setup to show your work during Zoom calls

Prerequisite

Before enrolling, students must complete the Garment Construction – Recorded Course to build foundational sewing skills.

Course Requirements

  • Your own draping dress form

  • Computer, good lighting, and a webcam or tripod setup (for live support option)

  • A five-piece sloper set (provided for free)

  • Additional materials (students will receive links to purchase separately)

What You’ll Learn

  • How to identify and use pattern-making tools

  • Understanding grainlines and muslin preparation for draping

  • Flat pattern dart manipulation techniques

  • Draping the basic front and back bodice

  • Transferring draped fabric into paper patterns

  • Sketching and executing new designs with dart manipulations

Important Notes

  • Live courses are only available in the U.S. (excluding Hawaii)

  • This recorded course is required before enrolling in custom fitting courses

  • Students are responsible for purchasing all materials except for the free sloper set

  • Expect up to four hours of homework per week for best results

  • No refunds, but students may transfer to another class if needed
