The Cowl Neck Top is a draped front jersey knit top design with a slightly wider shoulder span. This design has more of a halter cut at the armholes. The designer top has a curved hem that is slightly lower at the front and back centered area.

This is from one of my first collection in 2004. The original was made from a silk jersey knit and sold to stores. I think this makes a timeless design that is perfect for Summer. So, here it is in pdf pattern form in sizes X-Small, Small, Medium, and Large.

The Cowl Neck Top is a design pattern with designer ease and seam allowances. This pattern has two main pieces and a back facing piece.

This pattern has 1/2” seam allowance on the main body and 1/4” seam allowance at the neck and armhole area.

The suggested fabric is rayon jersey knit, modal jersey knit, and a combo of poly and cotton jersey knit without spandex. If you want to use a jersey knit with spandex you may need to go down a size for fit. You may use a stretch woven fabric as well for this design. Keep in mind to use the bias grainline for the front piece and go a size up when using this fabric.

The Cowl Neck Top takes 1 yard of 60” wide jersey knit fabric when cut with the straight grainline and 1 3/4 yards when using the bias grainline front piece.

There are two different grainlines on this pattern. The original front pattern was cut on the bias. I later tested the pattern and it was fine cutting the front section on the straight grain of the jersey fabric. So, you may use whichever suits you!
